The Lower Trent Trail is an invaluable community asset and it allows for preservation, enhancement and presentation of the natural environment while providing the public with a year-round, multi-use, non-motorized recreational trail.
Efforts have been made to conserve the corridor’s diverse natural features and processes by minimizing human influences including intrusive signage, amenities and parking facilities.
The trail offers opportunities for public education and understanding of the area’s natural, cultural and historical heritage.
It links rural and urban communities socially and economically.
The trail provides opportunities for outdoor physical activity but also is a place for respite from the busy and hectic world and a place for people to slow down for contemplation and meditation.
